This project is based on a digital self portrait using the theme of past, present & future. I used both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop during the process. I created a triptych image reflecting my thoughts of each subject. I also created a magazine cover to reflect all three of the subjects.
This is my final image for my past self-portrait. The image is of me throwing a piece of paper in the bin, on the piece of paper is a drawing I drew to represent my past. I chose that particular shot out of a number of shots taken in the studio, because the viewer can see the paper clearly and I was able to past my drawing onto it using photoshop. If I had had more time for this, I would have spent more time on the background and improved it by organizing the typography in a more visual way.
This is my final image for my present self-portrait. My opinion of my present is that I'm now finding my way in life, so with that in mind I decided that for my present image I would be looking up at earth. I recreated a shot taken of me in the studio, using typography. Because of the length of time that took me I did not have enough time to draw earth, so I got a picture of earth and used adjustments on photoshop. I did that so it would link with the typography.
This is my final image for my future self-portrait. I'm sat on the world because I see my self being settled and to have achieved my goals in the future. I again used typography to create the visual effect of earth, I used words relevant to my opinion and thoughts of my future. This image is the most successful from this project, the only thing I would change is the scale so the typography is clearer.
I composed this magazine cover as extra work. Again I didn't have enough time to complete this how I had designed it. I would change the type face to a clearer typeface and I would have spent more time with the composition of the cover. I would have also created my own barcode for the cover.
In this project I used typography and what I now know to be micrography in the triptych image. I think this method is visually interesting and would be effective used in advertising. The main problem I found during this project, was time. I did have a timeline and kept to it, but when certain designs took longer then available I was unable to complete the image to fit the design.
